The Himalayan region, stretching from Myanmar to Afghanistan, is home to nearly 53 million people and provides water, energy, and food to hundreds of millions across Asia. It is also rich in cultural, linguistic, religious, and traditional knowledge systems, making it an important ecological and socio-economic asset.

At the same time, the region is highly vulnerable to climate change and its cascading impacts on the environment and society. Its unique geography and diversity also make it a potential testing ground for innovative solutions to address these challenges. There is an urgent need to pursue a growth path that balances environmental, social, and economic well-being and supports a sustainable and prosperous future.

Himalayan Future Forum (HFF) is initiated to encourage multi-faceted dialogues on the Himalayas by bringing together stakeholders from different countries and sectors within the region. More specifically, this region in focus consists of countries that host the Himalayas, such as Bhutan, Nepal, and India, as well as countries directly affected by the Himalayas – such as Bangladesh. Currently incubated as a center as part of the Nepal Economic Forum, it will emerge as a separate not-for-profit entity over a period of time.
